Was the movie Bloodsport really based on a true story ?

I guess this is exactly why this blog was started and although there is no way to prove the story as true or false its still interesting to see how many people still ask this question. My view is that I benefitted in my martial arts from seeing Bloodsport back in the 80s so whether it was true or not I guess back then I believed it to be so.
Now I dont know what to believe and with so many great MMA and UFC fighters out there I guess it doesnt really matter whether fighters like that could exist because we have so many modern day fighters that are probably just as good as the fictional character of Frank Dux. What do you guys think ?

The story was supposedly based on an event in the life of Frank Dux. He claims the original was in Puerto Rico so the fight being in Hong Kong already diverges from it at that point.
The thing is nobodys ever been able to find anyone to confirm his story. You would think if 50 or so fighters were all at the same event at least a few of them would have come forward and said Hell Yeah Frankie Kicked Ass.
To the best of my knowledge the only person claiming to know anything about a kumite event is Frank W. Dux himself. So no I dont think its based on a real event more like Frank Dux is just a great story writer.
Frank dux made it up like every thing else he did. There is absolutely no proof that he was actually at this legendary Kumite. People claim he had his belt made in california some where lol. What a joker
Frank Dux was a conman pure and simple. Atleast Jean Claude is an actor and made the story believable that atleast is something positive.
Frank Dux is liar. His stories are all fabrications and he never fought in anything close to an underground Kumite. Do you guys know about the story of Frank Dux getting destroyed by Zane Frazier whilst Gracie was looking for fighters for the original UFC competitions.
its obvious you guys dont even know a thing, the movie as its done dont seem the real life, frank did it yes or no… maybe you must first study things like the guy who trained frank Senso Tanaka,… Senso “Tora” Tanaka, and where it came all the way the history of ninjutsu.. you only get in mind things from movies.. thats not the point.
